Clinical Psychiatrist and Regius Professor of Psychiatry, King’s College London
I'm a clinical psychiatrist who's interested in the boundaries of medicine and psychiatry. Also, I'm a Regius Professor of Psychiatry at King’s College London and a Fellow of the Royal Society. In my research career, I've been interested in how people, organisations and societies react to trauma and adversity.
Over the last five years, we've seen rates of anxiety and depression in younger people, and in particular in young women aged 16 to 24, steadily increasing. They now account for around 18% to 25% of the population.
